Unleash Quicker Revs & Maximized Response in Your Rotary Engine

Supercharge your rotary powertrain's acceleration with the Competition Clutch Ultra Lightweight Steel Flywheel (Part # 2-604-STU). Weighing in at an incredibly nimble 10.6 lbs, this flywheel dramatically reduces rotational inertia, providing the crisp, lightning-fast throttle response and rapid revving capabilities that competitive drivers demand from a naturally aspirated rotary.

Why Upgrade to the Competition Clutch STU Flywheel?

  • Engineered for High Performance: Highly recommended for track, rally, and racing applications. It pairs perfectly with aggressive Stage 3 and up clutch kits.
  • One-Piece 4140 Forged Steel: CNC-machined from premium chromoly steel. Unlike multi-piece aluminum variants, this rugged one-piece design eliminates the threat of ring-gear separation or friction surface warping under intense thermal racing loads.
  • Reduced Rotational Inertia: Machined with strategically less material on the outer diameter to assist the 1.3L non-turbo engine in climbing the RPM band instantly.
  • SFI Certified Durability: Fully engineered and stamped to handle extreme racing environments and high RPM shifts safely.

Whether you are shaving seconds off your road course lap times or building a highly responsive street-performance machine, this premium ultra-lightweight steel flywheel delivers the rapid acceleration and precise gear engagement your Mazda RX-7 deserves.

Break-In Procedure

After you install your new Competition Clutch you will want to make sure that the clutch is properly broken in for ultimate operation. To break in your clutch, shift as often as possible during the first 500 miles, by doing so you will make sure that the material from the disc is embedded into the friction surfaces of the pressure plate and flywheel. Following the break-in procedure will ensure that your clutch has the longest possible lifespan. If you have any questions, please reach out to our tech department and we will be happy to help.
